Direct
and Accelerated Access Courses

We
usually find that 3-4 days is enough for someone who has had recent riding
experience, for example, someone who has passed CBT and currently riding a
125 cc bike. We will advise you how many further days you need at the
end of your CBT and we will also tell you if we think you need an extra day
before taking the test. We aim for a
100% pass rate, so we want you to pass as much as you. The early part
of your training will be on smaller capacity motorcycle because we are
concentrating on your riding rather than the machine. When we feel you are
ready we will instruct you on the 500cc motorcycles. Our Direct Access course
usually takes the following format:
Day 1: Getting down to business We'll
start by tightening your skills and gradually bringing you up to test
standard in real time situations using some of the many test routes. This day
involves a lot of roundabout and junction work. We’ll stop for lunch then
continue with training. Our instructor will be getting stricter throughout
the day constantly giving you feedback. There will be many stops and chats. Day 2: Honing your road skills We
continue our focus on the test. You'll typically spend the day riding
the test routes and getting used to riding at test standard in traffic.
We will also spend some time focusing on the exercises you'll have to do for
the test as well as dual carriageway work. Day 3/4: Preparation and the test Depending
on the time of your test, we'll perform a mock test and give you the chance
to brush up on any of your weak spots before the test. |
Our large
capacity bikes are comfortable, fairly forgiving and easy to learn on. If you
are under 5' 4" we will need to check you can physically manage the bike,
as the seat may be too high.
If you have
already passed your test, over 21 and feel you need more than 33BHP but don’t
want to wait for your two year restriction to end you can do our accelerated
access course. This will be on a 500cc motorcycle and when you pass you can
ride a bike of any size. The length of the course is dependant upon an
assessment by one of our instructors.
