What bike can I ride?

Do you get confused about the type of motorcycle you can ride? This is a very simple guide:

You will need to complete a CBT before you are allowed to ride as a learner on the road. If you passed your car test before February 1st 2001 you can ride a moped without a CBT but I wouldn't recommend it.

The age restrictions first:

At 16 you can ride a moped after you have successfully completed a CBT.

At 17 you ride a learner legal 125cc.

How to get on a more powerful motorbike?

If you are under 21 you will have to take the standard motorcycle test. This will be on a 125cc machine capable of at least 62.5 miles per hour. After you passed you can ride any size motorcycle so long as it's restricted to 33BHP for the first two years.

If you are over 21 you can take your test on a bike developing more than 47BHP after you passed you can ride any bike, any size.
