CBT Compulsory Basic Training
This is your first step to gaining a motorcycle licence. It was introduced in 1990 to help reduce the very high accident rate among inexperienced motorcyclists. CBT must be completed before a learner moped or motorcycle rider is allowed to ride on the road with L-plates.

It takes a full day so bring some lunch with you. It is not a test, it's training so if you do something wrong we will try it again, perhaps in a different way until we get it right. We can promise you an interesting, exhilarating and fun day. You will also learn a skill for life.

After you have successfully completed all the elements you will be issued with a DL196 (CBT certificate). Your instructor will discuss with you in private your strengths and weaknesses and suggest ways to improve you riding (and perhaps driving) and keep you safe. Your instructor will also advise on the various courses we run all the way up to taking your full test and beyond.
